Key points for comparison
There have been some initiatives taken by the management of Walmart that has taken it way ahead of any other supermarket competitor in USA. Walmart has gone ahead with various environmental measures so that it can help in increasing energy efficiency. Walmart has been able to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by one-fifth in a span of last seven years. It has reduced its use of energy sources by thirty per cent and has done much work in cutting out solid waste from its stores in USA.

Walmart also offers a `same day’ delivery service through its select centers with a program known as `Walmart to go’. This program is valid even through holiday seasons and is available in most regions in USA. Shoppers can go online for items like electronics, sporting goods and even toys and then expect them to be delivered to their place on the same day. Walmart charges a fee of ten dollars for unlimited amount of items. There is no requirement of a minimum purchase amount. It is collaborating with United Parcel Service to deliver its orders (Source: http://techcrunch.com/walmart-begins-testing-same-day-delivery-in-select-markets/). It cannot get easier for shoppers to pick up their groceries from Walmart stores. All they have to do is to drive up to the `Parcel Pickup’ centers and push buttons on the `Express Lane’ call boxes for their orders to be loaded on to their cars by their personal shoppers.

Online shopping options are offered by both Walmart and Harris Teeter. All major credit cards are accepted by both of them. However, Harris Teeter does not offer delivery. It only offers store pick-up facilities.
