Let’s dive straight in and analyse the latest rumours (for now, this is all they are) about the HTC One M10. Leave your suggestions and gossip in the comments as well.

HTC One M10 Background Information

Meant as a successor to M9, HTC One M10 is set to make its debut surrounded by plenty of hopes and expectations most of which were not met when the M9 was released. Being a product of a company which remains an undisputed leader where design is concerned, M10 is set to take off from where its predecessors M7 and M8 left off in terms of impression and ground-breaking features. True though it is that M9 failed to create waves since it did not have anything new to offer, the situation is likely to be different in case of M10 with enthusiasts already drawing up a list of what they expect from this model of smartphone.

An acronym for High-Tech Computer, HTC Corporation is a Taiwan based enterprise which came into being in 1997 and since then has made its presence felt in the tablet and smartphone niche. Having stuck to Windows for the first decade or so, the company shifted to Android in 2009 wherein HTC Dream was the first to boast of an Android-based mobile platform. One of the present concerns faced by the company pertains to its falling market share in the face of competition and this is something that HTC intends to improve upon through the M10.

HTC One M10 Features and Specifications

When HTC released its first model M7 in 2013, the response and acceptance by users was phenomenal to the point of surprising even for established players like Samsung and Sony. This paved the path for its successors and also explains as to why the release of HTC One M10 is being eagerly awaited.

Following are features and specs that are likely to grace the HTC One M10:

Display – In an atmosphere when 4K seems to be the defining word pertaining to display, manufacturers of M10 seem to be content in incorporating 2K resolution. Considering that the display would measure 5 inches, a low resolution seems to be suitable and ideal for a device which is not graduating on to a phablet.

Camera – One of the ongoing trends that has characterized the smartphone market during recent years is the clarity with which ‘selfies’ can be clicked and HTC has also borne this factor in mind while designing its M10 model. As a result, the HTC One M10 is going to be equipped with two cameras gracing its front and rear measuring 27 Megapixel so that the device is able to compete in the segment with more renowned products.

Processor – HTC has always been keen on a powerful processor and to this effect, the M10 is expected to comprise of a Qualcomm Octa-core 82X chipset that employs 3.X GHz cyclone technology.

Battery – A prominent issue that pertains to smartphones nowadays is battery life because people indulge in frequent travel and hence would like their phones to be functional for long hours. Alternatively, even a short recharging time is preferred so that communication is suspended only for minimal duration. Bearing this in mind, HTC has decided to equip M10 with a battery that measures 3500 mAh and thus promises to enhance longevity and durability.

Miscellaneous features – As compared to the M9 which featured a 3GB RAM, the M10 will be fitted with a higher option of 4GB, not to mention a plethora of sensors ranging from Touch ID to those related to health.

HTC One M10 Rumours

In spite of there being several months prior to the release of HTC One M10, rumors are already rife about everything that this new model is expected to comprise of. A persistent and strong rumour pertains to wireless charging and it remains to be seen whether this will be a reality, especially since the previous model did not feature any particularly impressive innovation.

Connected to this is another rumour which suggests that the M10 will be a completely transformed gadget as compared to its predecessors, at least externally, the reason being that wireless charging has been known not to respond to a metal body. Given that even the M9 was well-designed on the outside, a makeover in M10 can only be indicative of a stunning exterior.

Rather than remain restricted to being an evolution, grapevine has it that the M10 would be more of a revolution with exciting new features like a fingerprint scanner, resistance to water and better facilities in terms of camera and storage. Overall, this model is being rumoured as being as surprising as the first HTC One model in this series and hence it remains to be seen whether this expectation is met.

There is also talk of HTC extend Vive, a headset to facilitate virtual reality, beyond the desktop frontiers into the mobile medium and this effort would indeed be successful if the graphic capabilities of M10 are strong enough to support gaming.

HTC One M10 Release Date

Unlike other well-known manufacturers of smartphones, HTC is a company that likes to stick to its schedule in context of new releases irrespective of competition. It has always been a company that has preferred to grow in silence rather than add to the growing din often created by smartphone makers in a bid to capture market share. There are even times when companies advance the date of release of their latest model or release more than one gadget at the same time to gain an edge over the competition but HTC has never been one of them.
Consistency is the name of the game for the company ever since the first HTC One model, named M7, was launched in March, 2013. Its successor, M8 followed exactly a year later in March 2014 and the latest release M9 occurred after one year in March, 2015. Thus, it is but logical to conclude that the forthcoming model, HTC One M10 will be released in March, 2016, exactly after a gap of one year to its predecessor.
