Sydney is state capital of New South Wales, and highest populated city of Australia and Oceania. It’s located on east coast, and surrounded by one of world’s biggest natural harbours, and Blue Mountains. The area around Sydney was inhabited by indigenous Australians for tens of millennia. When British settlers arrived in 1788 Sydney was founded as a penal colony. Now Sydney has an advances market economy, and it’s main strengths are manufacturing, finance and tourism.

On the other side we have Darwin, capital of the Northern Territory. Although it’s the largest city in the Northern Territory, it’s the smallest of the Australian capital cities. It’s small distance to South East Asia makes it an important Australian gateway to countries like Indonesia and East Timor. Greater Darwin area is home of Larrakia people. In 1869 tow became the town of Palmertson, and in 1911 it was renamed Darwin. Darwin has been almost entirely rebuild twice, and is now one of most modern capitals in Australia.
