Jawbone UP2 vs Jawbone UP3
Jawbone Up is a series of bands introduced by Jawbone with a focus to break down and simplify the data that it collects through its sleek trackers. The bands in the UP series do not have much to display on them and it may initially seem like it hasn’t been as efficient in picking up activities as other bands with displays have, but you’d be proven wrong once you enter its app.

We discuss today, two high-flying sellers of the Jawbone Brand.

The UP2 by Jawbone is your basic fitness tracker that provides two modes in the band, the ‘activity’ mode and the ‘sleep’ mode. You can enter the activity mode by touching the band first and holding the second tap will take you in the sleep mode. When in active mode, the Up2 automatically detects the timing of your activity and the time when you workout or exercise. You do not have to manually tell it to do so.

The sleep mode makes accessible, even the tiny bit of details such as:

– When you woke up at night
– Time you stayed awake in bed
– The time you went to sleep.

There is also an ‘alarm’ feature that sends a nudge to the band to stir you up from your deepest of sleep.

The app provided by Jawbone is where you can even compare your stats and score (goal achievement) with your friends and can even connect to any external apps. The coach in the app motivates you while setting up regular challenges for you as per your active movements (so that there is your perfect fitness trainer). It even suggests when you can go to bed to save up or charge your energy levels (drooling already). As we have already given our final verdict on the app, meaning, arguably the best one out there!

Moving on to Up2’s successor, Jawbone’s Up3, with a battery that lasts up to 7 days, Up3 is a more compact, sleeker version of the Up2. It comes with a magnetic charging mechanism. The band prompts you on your cell phone when it is time to get the charging gear out. It has bioimpedant sensors located on its rear side. The Up3 is able to even detect when you are ZZZZ’ing away in your bed and records your sleep pattern. It comes with a stopwatch function, that lets you record your workout sessions.

The device is controlled by the app on your smartphone. You are able to develop and update your profile manually or by using Facebook. You can connect with friends and you even get to challenge yourself with goals set by the app, which is a motivating factor. The step tracking accuracy of the Jawbone Up3 is unmatchable. With the added sensors, Jawbone records even more data than before. Jawbone delivers the Up3 with a promise to activate all these sensors in near future.

The app even keeps tabs on your level of food intake, watches your weight for you, your water intake and even lets you set mood for the day ( so in short, the best app ever, period). The app mainly displays:

– Activity
– Sleep level
– Calories

Just below these graphs is the “Smart Coach”, that gives advice keeping in view your activity/sleep patterns. Accessing each option individually lets you dive into the depths of the data, even the time you haven’t moved for. You are even sent ‘idle alerts’ on your band to let you know, you have exceeded your set idle time. (Highly Commendable).

UP by Jawbone are seen in the list of bands as the ones on the most reliable & accurate ends when it comes to picking up data from your sleep & counting spectrum, leaving all the other brands one step behind. If you are a newbie in the fitness tracking armlet market, looking to get your hands on the first buy, Jawbone’s Up bands are the finest ones to start with and if you are already using Jawbone, well then you already know, you have opted for some ofthe best!
