iPhone 7 Background Information

2014 was the year when Apple Inc launched the much awaited iPhone 6 and 6 Plus models amidst plenty of speculation pertaining to its features and performance. Barely eight months later the California-based tech giant has already moved on to the next model in the series, namely the iPhone 7, which it intends to likely launch around September of 2015, once again amidst an air of conjecture.

Ever since it was established on 1st April, 1976, with Steve Jobs one of its three founders, Apple Inc has made significant progress to the effect that today it is ranked amongst the top technology giants in the world. It was in June, 2007 that Apple Inc launched its first iPhone, an amalgamation of a smartphone and an iPod. Therein began a saga which resulted in the launch of a new and improved model every year and iPhone 7 will be the eleventh of its kind in the series.

iPhones have since remained flagship products of the company and are manufactured in three categories, their point of distinction being the size of their screens. As of today, it is the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus that boast the largest screens of 5.5 inches and it remains to be seen whether iPhone 7 will conform to this specification or introduce an even larger display screen as has been the trend with some recent competitor smartphone releases.

iPhone 7 Specs and Features

In keeping with its reputation of being a pioneer in the field of computer technology, Apple Inc has a long standing tradition of introducing new and hitherto undreamed of features in its iPhone series. iPhone 7 is no exception to this rule and has been predicted as being equipped with top notch and user friendly features that are likely to wow users as has been the case in the past. Like its predecessors, it is likely to be available in a number of colours.

It is expected the main competition for the iPhone 7 will be the Samsung Galaxy S7 and LG G5, both of which will face a strong challenge from Apple’s latest offering.

Is it then surprising that many people have decided to forgo the current generation of iPhones with the intention of buying an iPhone 7 the moment it is available?

Display – One of the features that has always been upgraded with each passing generation of iPhones is the size of the display and iPhone 7 is likely to feature a screen size of dimensions that would dwarf even the latest iPhone 6 Plus. For users, this is sure to translate into a pleasurable viewing experience where images, both still and moving, will be marked with clarity.

To ensure durability of display screen, Apple has settled for sapphire glass and another highlight is incorporation of TouchID sensor for improving users’ experience pertaining to navigating by touch.

Processor – Bearing in mind that much of the goodness of a gadget depends on the efficiency of its processor, Apple will likely opt for the quad core A9 chip version in the iPhone 7. The objective underlying this decision is to provide users with smooth and swift functioning which is bereft of delays and hitches.

Battery – The battery life of the iPhone 7 is likely to be an improvement courtesy of new technology developed by Apple on this front. Therefore, considering the Li-ion battery, the new battery should not just extend the life of the gadget on a single charge but also take less time to get recharged (and likely wireless charging included). That said, improvement in this aspect are only expected to be slight at the moment.

Camera – Cameras have always served as selling points for iPhones and with selfies being a rage at the moment, Apple is likely to ensure that users of iPhone 7 will not have any need for a digital camera. With the front camera rumoured of being possibly 4 megapixel and front-panel camera measuring 14 megapixels, this feature is sure to provide iPhone 7 an edge over its competitors.

Projector – After Galaxy Beam of Samsung, iPhone 7 is meant to be the second to boast of in-built projector and hence provide an enhanced viewing experience to its users. If handled well, this technology would enable users to make their PowerPoint Presentation via their smartphones rather than use external projectors.

Connectivity – Thanks to having tied up with network providers already, iPhone 7 users are likely to enjoy uninterrupted 4G connectivity for browsing and streaming.

Memory – Option in this aspect is likely to extend up to 256 GB which implies that any requirement for an external card slot is completely ruled out. It is also a major jump over the 128 GB that is being offered in iPhone 6 Plus, thus rendering this latest offering the only one of its kind in the niche.

iPhone 7 Rumours

Amongst all the rumors that may be floating, the strongest is that of the iPhone 7 sporting a curved 3D display and there are mixed views as to whether this feature will materialize. While there is some suggestion on an edge to edge screen, guesswork is still on about wireless charging and home button doubling up as a gaming control.

Grapevine also has it that iPhone 7 may launch three new models being introduced and there is no certainty of what these will be named. Having left behind ‘S’ and ‘C’ series, the possibility of the latest version being named iPhone Air is also a possibility, especially when there are other Apple products named in a similar fashion.

iPhone 7 Release Date

Since 2013, Apple has maintained consistency as regards the time-frame of its new launches where the iPhone 5 series was unveiled on 10th and 12th September respectively and the iPhone 6 series was introduced on 9th September, 2014. Bearing this in mind, it is very much probable that iPhone 7 will also be launched sometime in September, 2015, the third quarter of the year in progress. As befits Apple’s style, the exact date will only be let know closer to the unveiling.

iPhone 7 Price

There has been no indication of how much the iPhone 7 will cost and analysts and experts have predicted that in terms of price, it will be comparable to iPhone 6 series, meaning its range would start from 500 GBP and go up to 700 GBP. In USD terms, it could cost between USD 600 and 900 and on an average, it is likely to be a bit more expensive than its predecessors.

Smarter, bigger, lighter and most intuitive are some of the adjectives that have been coined to describe iPhone 7 and while the parent company remains tight-lipped, it remains to be seen whether this gadget lives up to people’s expectations.
