This supermarket chain started in 1977 with just a single store in Cahokia, Illinois. It was opened by Bill Moran. It has shown that small grocers can compete with mega stores. Its founder proved that he could run an assortment business model successfully even on a limited scale.
The stores expanded within a span of few years from Illinois to Missouri.
