Here are some pros and cons and differences between travel by cars and bicycles.

Car vs bicycle

2012 was an interesting landmark year in the recent history of Spain. Also, a very relevant one for this debate.

This is because during the year 2012, bicycle sales in the country surpassed sales figures for cars. Surprising and shocking though it might have seemed at first, it definitely set everyone thinking as to whether or not it was worth sacrificing the car and ride around the town on a bicycle.

Of course, there are a number of pros and cons of both and while comparing them is the ideal way to decide, individual preferences and needs will be the overwhelming factors.

Advantages and disadvantages of cars and bicycles

No doubt, cars are definitely faster. This meaning duration of travel from one point to another is much less than when covered in a bicycle.

Travelling by car has other advantages too – you can retain your freshness no matter for how long you might have traveled and are brimming with energy right from the beginning of the event.

Relevant or outdated as a concept, travelling by car still maintains an aura of sophistication too wherein the model and make of the car is reflective of and adds to the social status of its owner.

There are clear downsides to car travel too. Cars are way more expensive than bikes. Add to this the expenditure involved in the form of fuel, insurance repair and so on.

Another glaring disadvantage associated with this form of travel is its negative impact on the environment, not to mention the lack of exercise on part of the owner as also the travellers.

On the other hand, if you decide to ride a bicycle around the town, you not only reduce air pollution within the city but also lose all the extra flab, thus ending up as being fit, hale and hearty.

Since bicycles come at a fraction of a price of a car, your initial expenditure will be much less and further savings could be accrued through lack of fueling and insurance cover. In fact, you are bound to discover your city and surroundings much more closely while cycling than you ever could while zipping past in a car with windows closed.

So which one do you prefer, car or bicycle? Let us know below and why.

I love bikes, I determine if a city is good by the ease at what you can rent a bike (not in the winter 😀 ), the infrastructure for bikes and how often can you see someone riding a bike. I think that riding a bike shows how good a community for living is. As we know bikes are not that fast, so if they are using mostly them, then the community is good, people in it have enough time to travel from A to B. That shows that they are much healthier too. I would live in a place that people are happy, a place where you can do sports everyday and relax. With bikes there is less noise which is extremely important for someone like me.
