Chromebook vs Notebook
Almost everyone in the modern world has a personal computer and it is equally common for almost every one of those people to have a notebook computer. What is a notebook computer? A notebook computer or a laptop is a small portable personal computer that has an LCD or LED screen, keyboard, trackpad, speakers and all the interior parts that a desktop computer has.

The computer was born in the midst of WWII, when Alan Turing was appointed in charge of a team with the purpose to break the Enigma machine that was used by the Nazi regime to code messages which the Allies would not be able to decipher. The team succeeded and created the computer. In 75 years since the war, the computer went from filling a whole room to a small 5-inch display device that you hold in your pocket.

Since the ’90 when the computer was made accessible to the general public, the Notebook has risen to power and dominated the market.

One of the reasons this device has risen to power is because it can do anything your desktop computer can and it comes with a few plus points like having a battery which is capable of giving you 2-3 hours away from the outlet. It is portable, meaning you can go anywhere with it. On top of all this, you can use it for anything you might want – development, research, writing, gaming or even surfing the web.

Difference between chromebook and notebook

The downside of a notebook is that with the current technology development in a couple of years it is going to be obsolete. Also, for a decent notebook you have to pay around $ 1000 if you are using it for more than watching movies or doing simple tasks.

Five years ago, Google announced the release of a new notebook that you might call the light version, meaning that it has all the components a normal notebook has except it runs on Chrome OS. What does that mean? Well, this operating system is limited to just surfing the web and using only software developed by Google. If you want to use your favourite text editor that normally runs on a Windows machine, on this notebook it won’t. In spite being quite cheap to buy a Chromebook, if you want to use it for a job which requires graphic design or something equally complicated, you won’t be able to.

Primarily the Chromebook is designed to be used while connected to the Internet, having a small storage onboard. Most of its applications and documents are living in the cloud. Advantages of this particular notebook type is that is has a long battery life and the price is accessible, meaning a decent one is priced at roughly 200 $. The disadvantages are quite obvious – you can’t do anything on this notebook if you aren’t connected to the Internet and it can’t run applications other than those that are on the Chromebook App Store or Android Play Store.

The question here is “What do you use your notebook for?”, and the answer depends solely on you. If you use it for something more than Internet, you should get a normal notebook but if you use it just to surf the web, a Chromebook is just right for you.
